CONDITION
This 2-tone Rolex Datejust with reference 16013 is a rare and charming appearance. The black ‘Tapestry dial’ is in perfect condition, all the tritium dots are present. When the light hits the Tapestry pattern on the dial, it bends and plays with the color, making it seem the dial is black at some point and more anthracite the other. It’s also a fairly simple in design, as thin vertical ridges are cut into the dial surface, giving it a slightly three-dimensional vibe, you never get bored. The movement had a full check by our watchmaker and is perfectly running. The thick case has been polished in the past but is still in great condition. The spring bar holes are clean and crisp and not elongated. The steel/gold jubilee bracelet shows little stretch. The fluted gold bezel is also in good condition.

It’s Chronometer certified, with quick-set date function, and the design is in perfect aesthetic balance.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Rolex created the flagship datejust in 1945, in celebration of the brands 40th Anniversary. It was the first self-winding wristwatch with a date window on the dial. Together with the Datejust, Rolex also created the iconic 5-piece Jubilee bracelet. On the 10th anniversary of the Datejust the magnifying lens - so called cyclop lens - was introduced. Since the introduction the Datejust has become one of the most popular watches from Rolex. The Datejust has all the characteristics a Rolex is known for. The iconic two-piece screw-down Oyster case was the first waterproof case for a wristwatch that was serially produced in 1926.
