You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation.

This ‘Tropical’ Rolex Datejust is from an other league, Tropicals are ‘The next level’ in watch collecting. The example we offer now is a ref. 16234 and is in overall insane condition. The cal. 3135 automatic Movement is running perfect and was fully checked by our watchmaker. The watch case and bracelet are in razor sharp condition, with nice even brushing. The serial- and case number are clearly readable, starting with “Y” indicates production year 2002. The jubilee bracelet is in great condition. The white gold fluted bezel is also razor sharp, keeping the sapphire crystal in place. Which in turn protects the beautiful fresh white dial with Roman minute track and white gold hour markers.
TROPICAL DIALS
Roughly between 1950 and 2005, but especially like this example from 2002, watch dial producers coated their dials with a special finish. This chemical substance was supposed to protect the dials from certain influences like sunlight. Bizarrely, it had the exact opposite effect: After years of exposure to the UV light, that chemical reacted in a way that discolored the dial. Then the attractive and imperfect ‘tropical dial’ was born. This means finding a comparable watch will be difficult, let alone an identical watch. As they say in French: “Une pièce unique”
