This White Gold Rolex 1803 Day Date checks all the boxes. Super sharp case? check. Crisp bezel? check. Warm silver dial with creamy patina tritium? Check. It’s hard to find a Day Date in this great condition. The white gold Day Date is a great everyday and very versatile watch. Also it’s a little less flashy as the yellow gold version.
The 36mm 18 white gold oyster case is in great condition, sporting thick lugs and sharp edges. The hallmarks, serial number and reference number are clearly visible on the case. The automatic movement was recently fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The real centerpiece of this watch is the stunning warmly aged silver pie-pan dial. The tritium on the dial is all intact and has nicely aged to a yellowish/orange color adding to the overall charm of this watch. The watch was produces in 1966 (1618xxx serial) and the day and date windows are both original to this watch (with open 6 and 9).
The Day-Date is one of the most iconic Rolex watches. It was worn by presidents (hence its bracelet name), famous- and infamous people and became the watch to own if you were successful. The watch was exclusively made in precious metals (yellow gold, rose gold and platinum). It's named after the functions of the watch. It displays both the day (at the 12 o'clock position) and the date (at the 3 o'clock position). The cool thing about the Day-Date for collectors is that it's made in a very large variety of finishes and dials. The Rolex Day-Date was first created for a small niche, and later became one of the most iconic Rolex models ever produced. 1961 was the first time the ref. 1803 (fluted bezel) appeared in the Rolex collection.
