This Rolex Sea-Dweller with reference 16660 is a really rare sight. Known amongst collectors as the "transitional reference" it was the first Sea-Dweller model to feature sapphire glass and solid endlinks, replacing the reference 1665. The watch was produced by Rolex in 1981. Underneath the flat / no-cyclops sapphire crystal we find a stunning matte black dial with original tritium on both the hands and dial. The dial has some slight marks of aging. The 40mm stainless steel case is thick and in great shape, most likely unpolished and in original condition. We would argue this watch is untouched and unpolished. The watch is fitted on the original Oyster bracelet with matching flip-lock clasp and solid end-links, which shows only very minor stretch. The calibre 3035 movement was fully serviced. The stainless steel bezel shows signs of age with fading and marks of wear, the pearl is missing.
