ABOUT THE WATCH
This is the 50th anniversary Rolex Submariner Ref 16610LV. Better known to collectors as the Rolex Kermit Flat 4. It is a relatively young collectable watch, with already an interesting backstory behind it.
The first Rolex Submariner was introduced in 1953. But the 50th anniversary in 2003 was not the only reason the Ref 16610LV stands out. The use of a remarkable shade of green on the bezel was a novelty for the Submariner back then, the use of color is more common now. Now there’s the blue on blue, known as the notable “Smurf”, the green on green as the bulky “Hulk”. It’s important to note that these models both came after the Kermit. This makes the Kermit the trendsetter for a pretty conservative company like Rolex.
In our honest opinion, the first in 2003 produced batch is the one and only 50th anniversary Rolex Submariner. This particular Sub was part of this first and small batch, the so called “MK-1”. These watches can be easily recognized by the font of the 4 and the color on the bezel (a flat topped 4 and sort of olive green bezel). On top of that this watch comes with all the extra's you can wish for: booklets, inner- outerbox, tag and the stamped papers by Gassan, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Long story short: A historycal important and very collectable Rolex in fantastic condition.
